'I'm 67 but look 20 years younger – here are the three easy exercises I do to stay fit'

As we get older it becomes more and more difficult to stay fit and healthy. For many people, holding onto their youthful looks is also an aspiration. While some of this comes down to genetics, there are things we can do to help delay the ageing process.

One highly experienced fitness guru shared three simple exercises she does to keep herself healthy and energised.

Denise Austin, a professional fitness coach who has worked in the industry for 40 years, took to social media platform TikTok to reveal her secrets.

Viewers were blown away by her advice, specifically noting how incredible the 67-year-old looks.

In a video captioned “fit over 50”, Denise said: “Here are three easy moves that I like to do with my weights.

“They work your arms and your lower half – two workouts in one. Let’s begin.”

For all three she kept a dumbbell in both hands.

The first exercise was a pull down. For this she held her arms up in a right angle position and brought them down as she brought her knees up one at a time.

“Make sure when you’re doing a pull down you’re working your arms, your chest and your abs,” she commented.

Denise said: “The second exercise is a tap back, working the triceps and your booty.”

In the video she kept her head forward, legs back and stepped one leg back at a time while curling the arms backwards.

“The third one works your arms by step curls and hamster curls and works the back of those legs,” she said.

To complete this exercise Denise put her legs wider apart, and flicked her legs back one at a time while moving side to side and pulling both arms up in small curls.

Her fans welcomed Denise’s advice, with many stating how they used to watch her on the TV decades ago.

One viewer commented: “Thank you so much Denise from someone who just turned 62 and restarting again I feel I can do these. ‘Never too old’, I keep trying to tell myself.”

Another said: “I watched you 20 years ago! You haven’t changed!”

A third person added: “Been watching you since the 80s when I was a teenager. Love seeing you look so great and healthy!”

Various health bodies recommend regular exercise as a way to stay healthy and live longer.

The NHS advises taking part in at least 150 minutes of physical activity every week.

“It can reduce your risk of major illnesses, such as coronary heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and cancer and lower your risk of early death by up to 30 percent,” the NHS website says.
