A teenage dad scooped £120,000 on the lottery an hour after buying his first ticket in the bath.
Data analyst Sam Lawton, who was 19 at the time, scored a £120,000 prize on the National Lottery.
The dad-of-one, from Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, bought a Lucky Dip ticket after downloading the app, reports The Mirror.
Sam said: “I was in the bath and just thought that I’d have a go.”
He added: “I downloaded the National Lottery app in the bath, put a tenner in my account and then played a Lucky Dip.”
And around an hour later the lucky teen found out he’s won £10,000 a month for the next year in the Set For Life draw.
He said: “It was only an hour, maybe 90 minutes, after I first played when I saw a message on my phone and it said I’d won the second prize – £10k a month for 12 months.”
He asked his girlfriend, HR worker Connie, then 20, to take a look at the message he’d received on his phone before enlisting the help of her brother Craig – a regular lottery player.
Craig said “don’t move” and headed to the house and confirmed the huge win in 2019 that the pair planned to spend on a dream trip to New York.
But, said Sam, the first thing on his list was obtaining a driving licence.
He added: “I haven’t passed my test and with a small family I need wheels, maybe a BMW 1 series.”
Sam bought his ticket on August 12, 2019 – his winning numbers were 3, 20, 26, 27 and 32.
Earlier in October James Briggs, 42, and wife Sally, 40, waited a month to open the messages from Camelot before eventually learning they had banked their amazing windfall on the same Set for Life National Lottery game.
James said it was only after a fourth email from the lottery asking him to contact them that he finally called up – over a month after his winning numbers were drawn.
They now plan to spend some of their £120,000 winnings on a “she shed” for Sally, a holiday, a laptop – and a new front door.
The pair, of Walsall, West Midlands, said they were still in shock after matching the five main numbers in the draw on August 3.
