'I took revenge after my neighbour parked 9 cars in front of my house – costing them £90k'

Parking disputes are a frequent cause of issues between neighbours – with many streets simply not being built wide enough to accommodate the number of cars parked on them in modern times.

These issues can be bad enough when there are only one or two cars per household, but in one case one furious homeowner took revenge after his neighbours parked all nine of their vehicles on the street – despite having a “pretty big driveaway”.

Posting on Reddit, the furious homeowner claimed he had cost his neighbours around £90,000 after they repeatedly parked two of the vehicles in front of his home and refused to move them.

The post, seemingly from the United States, said:  “My neighbours have a pretty big driveway where they can fit four cars, but it’s always empty. They have told me they don’t like to leave their driveway with cars because it looks tacky.

“Over half the cars they have they don’t even use them. They just use them to safe parking spots for themselves.”

The infuriated homeowner eventually got his chance for some payback after spotting activity behind their home.

The post added:  “In 2021 I noticed they were building a second unit in the back of their main house.

“I noticed that they completed the house in under a month. This raised some red flags because it takes anywhere from two to three months with city inspections taking the majority of time.”

The homeowner added:  “I submitted a ticket with my city through the app and advised them that there might be some illegal residential building without permits. I didn’t think of it much until a year later.

“I noticed my neighbours tearing down their second unit last week. Word got around our block that a city inspector was there making sure everything was being torn down.

“Based on what they materials and labour they put into their second unit I cost them over $100,000 [around £90,000].”
