'I survived horror crash which killed my twin sister days before Xmas – I’m heartbroken'

A teenager has been left utterly devastated after her twin sister was killed in a car crash days before Christmas.

Chloe Pearson, 18, was sitting in the passenger’s seat of a white Citroen C3 which became involved in a collision with a black Mercedes-Benz CLK on the A426 in Leicestershire.

The crash took place on the night of December 15 and the teenager was taken to hospital, but died two days later as a result of her horrific injuries.

Abigale Pearson, who like her sister is from Castleford in West Yorkshire, was also in the vehicle during the crash.

She also sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital, but was discharged.

In a tribute to her sister, Abigale said: “The most devastating thing is that I came out of this incident without my twin sister.

“I’m absolutely mortified and heartbroken that I’ve no longer got her by my side. Rest in peace beautiful, until we meet again.”

Her grandmother, Elizabeth Pearson, also said: “Chloe was caring, beautiful and so full of life. She had just started her nursing career.

“It is so numbing; we are all in shock. The family has been ripped apart. We are all mourning together. Castleford is mourning.”

Abigale also said in an emotional tribute posted on Facebook: “Words can’t describe how much I miss you Chloe, life’s never going to be same without you.

“I’m heartbroken and lost knowing you’re never coming back. I promise to always make you proud, I love you so much.”

Seven people in total were injured in the collision.

The Citroen’s driver as well as one other passenger remain in hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, Abigale and another passenger from the same vehicle have both been discharged.

The Mercedes’ driver and passenger both remain in hospital.

Detectives from Leicestershire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the collision and are urging anyone with dashcam footage or information about the incident to come forward if they have not already done so.
