The husband of a paedophile teacher who had sex with a 15-year-old pupil has reportedly dumped her and moved on in his life with a new girlfriend, even though he previously vowed to stay by her side.
Kandice Barber, 36, was jailed for six years and two months in March 2021 after being found guilty of grooming a child, taking him to a field and kissing him on the neck before asking him “what do you want to do now”.
Barber, from Wendover, Buckinghamshire, had sex with the boy, although she later threatened to make a false rape allegation if he reported her.
During the trial, her husband Daniel told the court she was his rock and their relationship was strong as ever.
He had vowed to stay by her side after she was locked up.
However, a series of latest photos appear to show Daniel smiling with a new girlfriend by his side.
According to Mail Online, the couple have been dating for months and are planning to start a family together, as a source said: “He has moved out of the family home where he lived with her.
“There’s no sign of him there these days.”
Barber was jailed at Aylesbury Crown Court in March 2021, with Recorder Bal Dhaliwal saying: “You acted in gross breach of trust. You took advantage of a child in your care and groomed him for your own sexual gratification.”
The judge described the mum-of-three’s actions as “beyond despicable”.
Prosecutor David Povall summarised a victim’s personal statement from the teenager in which he said Barber “was supposed to help him make the right decisions, but helped him to make all the wrong decisions”.
He told Amersham Law Courts the teen had suffered stress and anxiety, adding: “His GCSE results were not as good as they should have been. The defendant, supposed to help students make the right decisions, instead helped him make all the wrong decisions.”
Mr Povall said: “He was at school and he came into contact with the defendant. She was in a position of trust. He has been caused stress and anxiety having to go through two trials. He is concerned his family and friends have also suffered.”
During one incident, the court heard Barber asked the boy to meet her, going to a private field and having sex with him. The judge said: “You called him and asked to meet. He agreed and you walked into some private fields. You began kissing him. You asked if he wanted to have sex, he agreed.”
After Barber was jailed, Daniel posted an online tribute to his wife with a kissing emoji, and the caption “always”.
