Hunter Biden warned case could 'get a lot worse' as 'Pandora's Box' ready to blow open

Hunter Biden has been warned his legal situation could get “a lot worse” should witnesses be called to testify in his ongoing child support case.

Joe Biden’s youngest son has been arguing payments to former aide Lunden Roberts, who gave birth to his estranged daughter Navy in 2018, should be cut.

Biden had previously claimed he was not the father of the girl but a DNA test conducted in 2019 confirmed he was. He has not been in contact with the child since her birth.

His legal team has argued Hunter Biden paid Roberts the agreed sum of $20,000 a month to support their child.

But Arkansas judge Holly Meyer called for Biden to answer questions about his financial affairs in a sworn deposition.

The questions would potentially probe any revenue generated through investment and his business dealings.

Legal analyst Jonathan Turley warned Biden’s situation could become direr if Roberts’s legal team were to confirm they are calling his business partners and art dealer Georges Berges if the case goes to trial.

Writing in his blog, Turley said: “Hunter Biden is seeking to reduce child support payments and has baulked at Navy being able to use the Biden name.

“If successful, this could get a lot worse for Hunter in his alleged efforts to conceal his past income.

“On the list are business partners at the centre of the influence-peddling scandal.”

Calling Biden’s business partners to testify could blow open a new can of worms for the President’s son, whose business dealings have attracted the attention of his father’s detractors since before his election into the White House.

Analyst Elie Honig echoed Turley’s assessment as he noted the child support case could indeed lead to further questions into Biden’s schemes. Biden is currently facing several federal investigations into his business affairs.

Honig told CNN: “Hunter Biden has bigger problems than this.

“Starting with the ongoing criminal grand jury investigation of Hunter Biden for potential tax fraud, and now he has opened the door by going back into this court to others getting access to his financial documents, including prosecutors, including Congress.

“So, it’s a questionable decision. I’m really astonished the Hunter Biden, given that he has a pending criminal investigation, and given that there are pending congressional investigations, would go back into this court and try to reopen this Pandora’s Box.”

The warning comes as House Republicans this week detailed what they say are concerning new findings about President Biden’s family and their finances.

The smoking gun, according to the GOP, is recently obtained financial records connected to the president’s son Hunter, brother James Biden and a growing number of associates who received millions of dollars in payments from foreign entities in China and Romania.

They suggest, without evidence, that the payments were part of a wide-ranging scheme to enrich themselves off the family name.

To help them get here, Congressional Republicans relied on more than 150 suspicious activity reports as a roadmap to follow what they call the Bidens’ complicated financial money trail.

The confidential reports, called SARs for short, are often routine, with larger financial transactions automatically flagged to the government. The filing of a SARs report is not evidence on its own of misconduct.
