Humza Yousaf's first FMQs suspended after descending into chaos with protesters shouting

Humza Yousaf’s debut First Minister’s Questions today was hit by chaos with a series of protests. The weekly grilling session was suspended just moments after it started due to shouting by members of the public in the gallery.

Mr Yousaf’s first FMQs was suspended five times in total before Holyrood’s gallery was emptied.

Presiding Officer Alison Johnstone told MSPs: “This parliament rightly prides itself on being open and accessible, and we want to maintain that.

“Visitors are welcomed into the gallery to watch their elected representatives at work, but far too regularly disruption is causing members to lose the opportunity to ask questions and represent their constituents’ interests.”
