Huge fire erupts in London with 70 firefighters battling major blaze at pub


As many as 70 firefighters are battling a major blaze at a pub in west London.

The whole of the roof and half of the first floor of the pub are alight. The pub is on Greenford Road in Sudbury Hill, near Harrow.

London Fire Brigade said: “The Brigade’s 999 Control Officers have taken 10 calls to the blaze.

“The fire is producing a large amount of smoke and those in the local area are advised to keep their windows and doors shut until smoke subsides.”

The alarm was raised at 5.49pm and crews from Northolt, Harrow, Southall and surrounding fire stations are at the scene. The cause of the fire is not known at this time.

The venue ablaze is the Rising Sun Hotel and Restaurant, which specialises in Sri Lankan and South Indian cuisine.

The hotel, which has 10 rooms and is run by 18 staff, could be seen with smoke billowing from it in a social media clip posted at 6:24pm.
