Huge counter-protests erupt in NYC's Times Square after pro-Palestine march

Counter protests have erupted in New York City’s Times Square following a pro-Palestine march – just one day after the terrorist organization Hamas launched an attack on Israel.

Angry demonstrators holding Israeli flags confronted hundreds of protesters bearing placards which read ‘Free Palestine’.

The gathering took place at 1pm on Sunday in Manhattan’s Midtown.

One man can be heard shouting “How can you support this! F***ing murderers!,” while a group of over 300 people chanted “free Palestine” during the rally.

But as this group grew, a separate gathering of Israeli protesters started to take shape.

They raised flags in response from their position behind a metal barrier.

At one point, a man from the Israeli group made a charge toward the Palestinian assembly but was promptly stopped and led away by a police officer.

The NYPD has a significant presence at the scene to maintain order.

Some protesters held signs that read “Resistance against occupation is a human right” and “end all US aid to apartheid Israel”.

Israel says it is at war as its soldiers battle Hamas fighters in the streets and launch airstrikes on Gaza – the day after an unprecedented surprise attackby Hamas militants.

At least 700 people have been killed in Israel and more than 370 have been killed in Gaza as Israeli airstrikes pummel the territory.

A senior Hamas official says the militant group is also holding more than 100 people captive.

During their rampage through southern Israel, militants dragged back into Gaza dozens of captives, among them women, children and the elderly.

The UN Security Council is holding an emergency meeting behind closed doors with the United States demanding that all 15 members strongly condemn “these heinous terrorist attacks committed by Hamas”.
