Huge blaze engulfs London block of flats as dozens of firefighters scrambled to scene

A huge fire in northwest London has seen an enormous response from the fire service as it blazes for over an hour.

The growing inferno is being tackled by ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters.

More than half of the third floor of a four-storey building containing a shop with flats above is alight on Cricklewood Broadway in Cricklewood.

The cause of the fire – or what buildings it has affected – remains unclear, as does whether any people have been injured or taken to hospital.

London Fire Brigade said: “Road closures are in place and people are asked to avoid the area.”
