How to watch Jake Paul vs Nate Diaz: Date, time, TV channel, odds and prop bets

Social media influencer turned boxing sensation Jake Paul is set to take on former UFC welterweight Nate Diaz in the ring on Aug. 5 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.

In 2021, Paul attempted to arrange a fight with Diaz by expressing his confidence in defeating him before his first match against Tyron Woodley. This occurred during the early stages of his boxing career, as the Woodley fight was only his fourth.

Initially, the YouTube star wanted to use Diaz as a stepping stone to set up a matchup against Conor McGregor, who had just crossed into the boxing world to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. However, he was met with controversy regarding ruining the sport of boxing, although boxing icon Mike Tyson has praised Paul for his efforts to revitalise the sport.

Paul is coming off the first loss of his career against Tommy Fury, who beat him by a split decision in February. Against Diaz, he will look to get back into the win column.

Although Diaz has been a professional mixed martial artist for 18 years – 15 in the UFC – he has yet to enter the professional boxing ring. Despite his amateur record, his hand skills have been well-documented in the octagon.

Diaz, known for his toughness and durability, has never lost via knockout. During UFC 244, Diaz was stopped by TKO from Jorge Masvidal due to a doctor’s stoppage for the company’s BMF title. Before that, his only other TKO defeat came at the hands of John Thompson in 2013.

The MMA fighter has compiled a record of 21 wins and 13 losses, facing some of the best competition in the history of the UFC, including McGregor, Rafael dos Anjos, Benson Henderson, and Rory MacDonald. However, none of that experience will come into play once the fingerless MMA gloves are exchanged for 16-ounce leather boxing gloves.

In the upcoming bout, Paul will have an advantage as he is more prominent in stature and taller than his opponent. On the other hand, Diaz can withstand hits, deliver punches even when taking hits, and maintain his stamina throughout the fight. This creates an intriguing dynamic for the fight night.
