How Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s close friendship with Zara and Mike turned to rivalry

A royal rumble could be about to take place in Hollywood between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and Zara and Mike Tindall as the couples become ‘rivals’, an expert claims. On Monday Zara, who at 42 is the same age as Meghan, took to the red carpet for the Netflix showing of rugby documentary “Six Nations: Full Contact” in London, a film subject close her former England ruby player Mike’s heart.

The movie outing for Mike, 45, and Zara culminated a star-studded few days for the couple who have just returned from a sun-kissed trip to Australia where they rubbed shoulders with Hollywood superstar Chris Hemsworth.

During their break the Tindalls enjoyed praise in the Australian press for their down-to-earth demeanours as they were seen enjoying one another’s company at the beach.

Jane Owen, celebrity PR expert and founder of Jane Owen PR, said the Tindalls could be “take advantage of that interest and attention” because “Hollywood loves Royalty”.

Speaking to The Mirror, she said: “If their team knows what they are doing they could potentially become even more popular in time than Meghan and Harry because they don’t have to combat the negative publicity and the mistakes they have made to regain trust and momentum.”

Another expert in the PR field claimed the Tindalls offer the “perks” of the Royal Family for potential clients without “the drama that comes with the Sussexes”.

Sean O’Meara, of PR agency Essential Content, told The Sun: “America and Hollywood are less impressed by birthright, and Mike and Zara’s personal sporting achievements alongside being a member of the Royal Family make them very appealing outside the UK.”

Mr O’Meara added the Tindalls come across as “authentic and much more laid back”.

Since quitting as working royals the Sussexes have of course enjoyed some success, for example with their Netflix documentary Harry and Meghan, and with Prince Harry’s best-selling tell-all memoir Spare.

But Meghan did not have her podcast Archetypes renewed by the streaming giant Spotify. It’s reported directors could find it hard to see past her ‘Duchess’ title as she tries to pursue ambitions in Hollywood.
