House hunters can't believe price of 'derelict horror' in London with trees growing inside

Brits are aghast after learning of the eye-watering asking price for a “derelict horror” property in London.

The property in Wimbledon, south-west London, appears unliveable as it is completely unfurnished. Despite this, potential buyers will need to have deep pockets to afford the three-bed home.

One X user described the asking price as “silly money”, although others said they sadly weren’t surprised at the lofty fee given the location of the terraced property.

The house’s carpets are peeling and appear full of dirt, meanwhile the walls and ceiling don’t appear to have been renovated in some years.

Perhaps the most shocking image of all is of the bathroom, where there is a hole in the roof and tree branches have managed to get in.

The property on Nelson Road in expensive Wimbledon is listed on RightMove for cash buyers only. The asking price is just shy of 700 grand at £695,000.

X users could not believe what they were seeing and compared the property to others available for the same price in different areas of the country.

One user said of the unfurnished home: “That would cost about £150K in say Lancaster. Don’t live in London. It’s just silly money.”

An X user that reposted the link to the property said: “Oh my god. £695,000 for *68 square metres* of derelict horror. It’s not even in central London. It’s just a small family terrance. Nobody but dual earners in elite industries are even getting close to being able to afford this without hefty parental subsidy.”

The RightMove listing for the property reads: “In need of complete modernisation, Cash buyers only. SW19 presents this exciting opportunity to acquire a complete blank canvas to create your dream family home. This house features three bedrooms, two reception rooms, and a 53 ft rear garden.

“In its current condition, the property would not be eligible for a mortgage, strictly cash buyers only.”

Another X user quipped dryly: “”A complete blank canvas” is doing quite a bit of heavy lifting here.”
