Hospital where Princess Kate is recovering has 'requires improvement' surgery rating


The hospital Princess Kate is recovering from an operation received a ‘requires improvement’ rating for surgery in its last inspection. The Princess of Wales underwent successful abdominal surgery today, Kensington Palace has said.

She will remain at the hospital for the next 10-14 days. The London Clinic, in Marylebone, London, received an overall Good rating from the CQC following an inspection in 2021.

Broken down into a number of factors, the surgery element received “requires improvement”. According to the CQC, this denotes: “the service isn’t performing as well as it should and we have told the service how it must improve.”

Surgery at the clinic was rated “Good” in the “Caring” category. It received “requires improvement” in the “Safe”, “Effective” and “Responsive” categories, and an “inadequate” rating for “Well-led”.
