Horror moment Ukrainian grenade lands on Russian soldier's head sending his helmet flying

Shocking video shows the moment a Ukrainian grenade lands on a Russian soldier’s head, with the impact sending his helmet flying.

It is unclear where the incident took place but the disturbing video shows a grenade dropping down into a hole in the ground occupied by a Russian soldier.

Moments later the grenade erupts into a ball of smoke and the soldier’s helmet is seen flying up into the air from out of the hole.

Described as “combat footage” on the social media platform Reddit, the seven-second film is captioned: “Video shows UA drone dropping a grenade into a Russian trench, right on top of a Russian soldier, which ends up sending his helmet into the atmosphere.”

While many comments have claimed the drone was from Ukraine, the origins of the attack remain unknown.

It comes as Russian despot Vladimir Putin’s quest to win his country’s war against Ukraine was given the backing of North Korean tyrant Kim Jong Un.

Kim has been in Russia since Tuesday, holding a series of talks with his Russian counterpart which have revolved around the war, arms and space.

He said during a press conference that Moscow would emerge victorious from its battle with Ukraine, and its backers in the West, while admitting ties between the two nations had become stronger.

According to state media reports, Kim said: “We are confident that the Russian army and people will definitely achieve a great victory in the sacred struggle to punish the evil gathering that claims hegemony.”

The dictator also reflected on the “heroic” armies of Moscow, that has been battling Ukraine since its invasion back in February 2022.

Putin said he welcomed the “strengthening of cooperation” between Moscow and Pyongyang, noting the “prospect” of closer military ties.

These close ties could spell danger for Ukraine and have a major impact on the war, Kim Jong-dae, a visiting scholar at the Yonsei Institute for North Korean Studies, said.

According to Euronews, the expert continued: “I believe that Russia has already tested North Korean shells on the battlefield and is now ready to expand their use.

“Western states do not understand the consequences of “such arms sales between Russia and the North.”

As Putin and Kim continued to exchange pleasantries, overnight between Wednesday and Thursday, Russia claimed to have destroyed more Ukrainian drones – this time in the Black Sea.

Among them were five devices launched towards Moscow’s ship Sergei Kotov, which the Russian Defense Ministry reported had been downed.
