Horror moment stranger 'hurls brick' at busker performing in middle of busy high street

A busker claims that a complete stranger randomly confronted him with a brick while he performed on a busy high street. Singer Osaze Aigbe, 25, says that the stranger “threw a brick” at him while he was performing at the junction of Union Street and High Street in Birmingham on May 18. The alleged assailant is appearing in court today.

A hooded man was filmed approaching Osaze, pulling his chair and threatening him with it before two police officers then arrive to calm the situation, allowing Osaze to continue his performance.

But seconds later, the stranger returns and allegedly throws a brick at Osaze who is forced to get up and grab his chair to defend himself.

Osaze said: “In the video you can see a stranger first threatening me and then he comes back to attack me with a brick.

“The very weird part is I’ve never met this man before.

“I thought I was in danger and I prayed that God would save me because I’m not a fighter.

“After he missed the first time, he picked the brick up again to try and hit me.

“I was scared as well as confused because I could never imagine something like that would ever happen to me.”

West Midlands Police said a 31-year-old was arrested and charged with assault.

A spokesperson said: “We’ve charged a man following an assault in Birmingham city centre around midday on 18th May.

“He has been charged with assault and assaulting an emergency worker.

“He was remanded into custody to appear before Birmingham Magistrates’ Court on 24 May.”

Since the incident, Osaze has returned to his spot to perform for the people of Birmingham.
