Horror at respected DJ filming himself urinating on old man in pub – and posting online

A respected DJ filmed himself urinating on an old man in a pub on Boxing Day and then posted the footage online. Leigh Brookfield, 40, was at the Llanelli Tennis and Squash Club when the incident happened.

The footage shows Mr Brookfield standing next to the older man at the urinal as the latter starts speaking about his serious health issues. Mr Brookfield then proceeded to say “Sorry to hear that bud” before urinating on the man’s trousers.

Mr Brookfield later took the decision to post the footage on Snapchat and from there it went viral on Facebook as people became angered at his disrespectful behaviour.

Following the incident, Mr Brookfield apologised in a statement on Facebook. He said it was “just something me and the boys do when we are drunk”.

Mr Brookfield added that “until watching the video back I didn’t realise that the nice gentleman next to me was going through health problems”.

Speaking to WalesOnline, Mr Brookfield admitted that he had been “absolutely paralytically drunk” and that the night out was his “last hurrah” before his wife gave birth.

He said: “My actions were inexcusable. I’ve seen the video and I’m disgusted with myself. My hand on my heart, I was not aware of what the gentleman was saying to me. I was crying watching what I did.”

Mr Brookfield claimed that he could not “remember any of it happening”. He added that after he left the club and went to a Wetherspoons, people began to confront him about what he had done.

Mr Brookfield said what he had done was something he and “the boys have done over the years amongst each other”. He said: “It’s just something silly we’ve done since we were young, it’s not something we’ve done recently.”

Mr Brookfield added that he and his friends were a “unique bunch of lands, we’re a harmless bunch of lads, you know? It’s just something we’ve done, being juvenile in the past. We’ve all moved on and had families.”

Later, Mr Brookfield admitted he had been abroad “and done it and the whole pub has been doing it in Benidorm”. He said it was not something he would do to a stranger.

He said: “I don’t know what the hell I was thinking, I was just out of it. I can’t blame the alcohol. I’m the one who put in my mouth to drink it.”

Mr Brookfield said he planned to contact the man and pay for the ruined clothing. He said: “I feel so sorry for him and his family. I know if it was my grandfather or father, I would be absolutely horrified. I wish I could turn back the clock. I hope the family can forgive me.”

Following several reports about Mr Brookfield’s actions, a spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police said they were investigating the reported “assault”.

The spokesperson said they had been contacted by three people who reported “an assault after seeing a video circulating on social media”.

They added: “The reports concerned an incident which was alleged to have taken place at Llanelli Tennis and Squash Club on Boxing Day.

“The victim has been contacted by an officer, and enquiries into the incident are ongoing.”
