Horror as two children and four adults killed as fire tears through home on Christmas


Six people, including two children, died in a house fire early on Monday, authorities said. The “horrific” scenes occurred in Cumberland County, Tennessee, on Boxing Day. 

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office says firefighters arrived at the scene on Plateau Road and found a house fully engulfed in flames. 

Officials say six people died in the fire.

“Sheriff Casey Cox would like to ask that everyone please keep this family in your prayers,” the department said. 

“This is a horrific event and a tragic loss in our community.”

Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office Stg. Gary Howard said no criminal cause is suspected to be behind the blaze.

“No foul play is suspected however, it is believed that several have perished in the fire”, police said.

“At this time it is believed that 4 adults and 2 children tragically died in this fire.”

Authorities did not release the names, ages or relationships of the victims.

The sheriff’s office said they are working to notify the families of the victims.
