'Hope he's gone for good': Arch-Remoaner Dominic Grieve can't contain glee at Boris report

Top anti-Boris Remainers have already taken to the airwaves to wave goodbye to Boris Johnson following the Privileges Committee’s damning report into him misleading parliament.

Arch-Remainer Dominic Grieve, who Mr Johnson sacked as a Tory MP for voting against Brexit, revelled in his demise.

When asked by Sky News host Kay Burley whether Mr Johnson can “Come back from this”, Mr Grieve bluntly replied: “I hope not. I hope he’s gone for good.

“The country is much better off without him.”

Mr Grieve was seen grinning from ear to ear as the camera panned away from his interview.

Sky News also spoke to Sir Chris Bryant, who recused himself from the Privileges Committee over concerns he was too biased to deliver a neutral verdict.

Sir Chris said Mr Johnson is a “disgraced former Prime Minister” and accused him of behaving like a “child throwing his toys out of the pram”.

Responding to calls by the Lib Dems for Mr Johnson to lose his right to a yearly fund given to former Prime Ministers, Sir Chris said he wants the ex-PM to be “stripped of everything”.

Sir Chris said Mr Johnson had shown “no contrition, no honesty, no truthfulness, no ability to accept responsibility and in the end cowardice, running away from parliament and running away from his electorate in his constituency”.

Remainer Tory grandee Lord Michael Heseltine compared Boris Johnson to Donald Trump over claims from his allies that only Mr Johnson can win elections for the Tories.
