Homeowner 'disgusted' after spotting ice-cream man 'weeing outside his house'

A homeowner was horrified to find an ice cream man appearing to relieve himself outside his home in broad daylight.

John Federici, 61, returned to his home in Stoke-on-Trent to find what he described as a “big wet patch” behind his garage, which is overlooked by other houses.

He checked his home CCTV and discovered that much of the frame was filled by a classic ice cream van.

The footage showed a man, the operator of the van, opening the passenger-side door and checking his surroundings before fumbling with his trousers.

He then stands by the open door of the vehicle for some time, appearing to relieve himself.

What looks like paper towels are visible on the passenger side seat and there is a sink in the back of the vehicle.

But Mr Federici – whose father was in the ice cream van trade in the 1980s and 1990s – said he was horrified that he seemingly failed to wash his hands before driving off.

Speaking to StokeonTrentLive, he said: “It’s disgusting. We have kids playing out the back here, riding around on their bikes, playing football.

“I’ve had people ask me if I have not got better things to do, but it’s not the point. Hygiene should be a top priority.”

Public urination is not illegal but can lead to a fine under the Public Order Act.

StokeonTrentLive has been unable to contact the ice cream man in the footage.
