Hollywood breathes 'sigh of relief' as Prince Harry set to attend King's Coronation

Prince Harry’s decision to attend the Coronation has been welcomed in Los Angeles as “Brand Sussex” relies on his closeness to the Royal Family, according to an insider.

It was announced last week that the Prince would attend King Charles’s Coronation while Meghan Markle remained in California with the couple’s children.

A Netflix insider told the Mail on Sunday that this was good news for Hollywood with the industry breathing a collective “sigh of relief”.

“Harry is going back for all the right reasons but there was a palpable sigh of relief among those of us involved in the business because Brand Sussex relies on Harry being seen with his family,” the Netflix source said.

The paper also revealed that a spot would be set for Harry at the post-Coronation lunch in case the Duke decides to join after the ceremony.

Meanwhile, a senior Disney executive told the MoS that the talk of Tinsel Town was “what Meghan and Harry do next?”.

The Duke and Duchess reportedly signed a £120 million deal with streaming giant Netflix as well as multimillion pound deals with Spotify and publisher Random House.

However, the Disney boss argued their main “selling point” is their closeness to the Royal Family.

“The danger Harry and Meghan face is becoming irrelevant. Americans care about the Royal Family. We’ve always been fascinated by the Royals. Harry is Diana’s son, nothing will ever change that. But the American public needs to see he’s still part of the family because his family and their drama is what we’re interested in,” they said.

The boss added that “Harry has to be there” referring to King Charles’s Coronation.

The couple were invited to the event more than two months ago, however Buckingham Palace was left waiting for a reply. Last week, it was announced that the Prince would attend the event while Meghan stayed home.

On the Prince’s attendance, the Netflix source added: “The images from the Coronation will be instantly iconic. Harry will be in those photographs and, from a business perspective, you can’t put a price on that.”
