Historic midlands city where punters can buy a pub meal for just £3

As inflation has risen sharply in recent years, supermarkets and restaurants have raised their prices to compensate.

As a result, high street staples such as the three-pound meal deal have vanished as a result of economic pressures.

However, in one pretty city in the midlands, it is still possible to buy a substantial meal out for under three pounds.

In response to a rise in inflation, two bars in Nottingham, both part of the same chain, have introduced a new menu with meals costing just £2.99.

The deal, run by bar chain Revolution, is currently available at their branches on Forman Street and Broad Street.

The new menu will reportedly run throughout summer, from Sunday to Friday, from 12pm until 9pm.

The chain said customers could book or just walk in and ask for the Meal Deal menu.

In a statement, the company told NottinghamshireLive they were “flipping the script” on the cost-of-living crisis with a menu that would make customer’s taste buds “do a little victory dance”.

They explained: “We’re not just flipping burgers; we’re flipping the script on the cost of living crisis with a menu that will make your wallet jump for joy while your taste buds do a little victory dance.

“Good food shouldn’t break the bank and a great time with your friends doesn’t have to be expensive.

“So, come on down your stomach and wallet will thank you.”

The new menu has been revealed after Revolution comes out of a tough economic time following a difficult three years due to the pandemic.

The chain, which has bars across the country, returned to profitability in 2022, but shut some of its outlets at the start of 2023.

Furthermore, it has issued a profit warning, blaming transport strikes, inflation, and hot weather.

In March, its chief executive Rob Pitcher said: “We have faced well-documented macroeconomic challenges which impacted profitability in the half year.

“The team have done everything they can to mitigate the cost headwinds and other factors outside of our control, and I am immensely proud of our people for delivering an amazing Christmas to our corporate guests, delivering an all-time record of pre-booked sales for the group.”

Mr Pitcher added: “Walk-in custom was hampered by industrial action, reduced consumer confidence and the hot summer, and we look forward to increased guest confidence in the coming months as energy prices continue to fall from their previous peak and inflation abates.”
