Hilarious cartoon of King Charles and Queen Camilla features on special 85th Beano edition

King Charles and Queen Camilla have been immortalised in cartoon form to celebrate Beano turning 85 this week, as a special edition featuring numerous iconic British celebrities is being published to mark the anniversary.

Thousands of schoolchildren authored the issue, which featured stars including Marcus Rashford, Dua Lipa, Harry Styles and Claudia Winkleman.

Other royals Prince William and Princess Kate are also depicted on the cover, with 3,000 children aged 7-14 from across the county determining which stars would be on there.

Both Charles and Camilla are wearing their crowns in the cartoon as Charles wonders whether he is still King in Beanotown.

However Camilla happily informs him that in the fictional town it is kids who rule rather than the monarchy.

The children were asked who they thought the most inspirational celebrity was, with footballer Marcus Rashford coming out on top thanks to his sporting skills and charity work.

The King and Queen came in at number seven on the list of most inspirational stars, with William and Kate lower on the list in 16th place.

The children were also quizzed on which celebs they would want at their birthday party and which ones they would want to be their best friend.

While none of the royals broke the top three on either list, Charles and Camilla did feature in the top 10, higher than the future King and Queen managed.

Charles and Camilla were eighth on the list of ideal best friend and seventh in line for top birthday party guest, while William and Kate were 14th and 12th respectively.

Mike Stirling, Director of Mischief at Beano, said: “As Beano proudly celebrates its 85th anniversary, it continues to champion the power and joy of childhood by doing what it’s always done, showing kids being kids. Here’s to the next 85 years, and we dedicate this birthday issue to every child out there, because being a kid never gets old.”

When it comes to kids being kids a young Prince William showed off his cheeky side at the wedding of his uncle Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson 37 years ago in July 1986.

William, who was only four at the time, appeared to break free from poised royal behaviour and was a little mischievous during the ceremony.

In one snap, William can be seen anything but interested in what was going on in front of him, as the young royal let out a big yawn and was later spotted chatting to his cousins and playing with the toggle on his hat.
