Heartbroken Army hero has prosthetic legs stolen during raid on car outside Premier Inn

Mark was blown up by an improvised explosive device on Christmas Eve 2007 while serving with 40 Commando Royal Marines in Afghanistan. Pronounced dead twice, Mark’s legs and right arm were amputated after the blast, but he battled through three surgeries and six weeks in hospital, going on to become the first triple amputee to survive in battle.

Mark, from Plymouth, Devon, went on to win gold at the Invictus Games and to work for The Royal Marines Charity. He was appointed an MBE for services to veterans and the Royal Marines.

A woman who spotted a social media post Mark made about the theft returned his things after finding them near her home at about 9pm on Tuesday (January 9). Mark told Express.co.uk: “I was pretty angry (about the theft). It’s restored my faith in humanity. There are some decent people out there.”

Mark said he still wants the police to pursue his case, though security cameras outside the hotel failed to pick up anything because another vehicle obscured the view of his car. He added: “It angered me. I just thought, Who are you to damage my property? No one has the right to take that from me.”
