The property where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle shot their contentious Netflix docu-series is for sale for $33.5million (£26.7million). The couple was filmed laying out the reasons why they left the Royal Family on a white immaculate couch located in the living room of the mansion in Montecito. What initially appeared to be their luxurious $14.65million mansion in California turns out to be a splendid property worth a staggering £26.7million, it has been claimed.
The 13,599 square feet, six-bedroom Montecito estate mansion, which is a nine-minute drive away from the Sussexes’ own home, was reportedly featured in some parts of the Netflix docu-series.
Royal fans may have assumed the sweeping vistas over the Pacific Ocean, an oak ceiling, and an impeccably designed interior were the views the Sussexes get to see every day.
But the luxurious property featured in parts of their documentary turns out to be a mansion worth triple their own actual home, it has been claimed.
It boasts nine bedrooms and 16 bathrooms, as well as a tennis court, tea house and two-bedroom guest house.
In their Netflix documentary series “Harry & Meghan,” Prince and Harry seemingly gave viewers access to their Montecito house for the first time by allowing them an unparalleled look inside the $14.65million California mansion they bought in the summer of 2020.
But independently verified photos of the living room reveal a striking resemblance to the space in Harry and Meghan’s Netflix series, complete with the same white couch and French doors in the background. The same mantlepiece can also be seen in the backdrop.
The 13,599 square feet Mediterranean-style property boasts a Wimbledon-quality lawn, pool, spa, private gym and pebbled walkways. It also has a guest house and chicken coop in the garden.
The house, which Top Ten Real Estate Deals is selling, served as the setting for a large number of the interviews in the six-part docu-series Harry & Meghan.

Among those interviewed in the mansion are Harry’s childhood friend ‘Nicky’, British historian, writer, journalist, presenter, and BAFTA-winning filmmaker David Olusoga, and Meghan’s friend Lucy Fraser.
Along with her friend Vicky Tsai, Meghan’s ex-agent Nick Collins was also interviewed at 888 Lilac Drive.
The Sussexes left the Frogmore Cottage for their Montecio Mansion in 2020. Meghan said her new property makes her “feel free” and is “calm and healing” to live in the luxury home in the gated community in Santa Barbara.
A-list celebrities including Oprah Winfrey, Kim Kardashian, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Ariana Grande like visiting Montecito.
