US Journalist Meredith Clark wrote in an opinion piece for the Independent: “Let’s face it: We should all want to see Harry and Meghan at King Charles III’s Coronation.
“Yes, it would be a positive sign that this once-feuding family has turned a new leaf, but it would also change the Coronation from just any other royal engagement into must-see TV – something that the California couple do best.”
The clip Ms Clark referred to shows the Duke of Sussex visibly shaken after receiving a text from Prince William in the wake of his and Meghan’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Meghan can be heard simply commenting “wow” when shown the content of the message, which was not shared with the public, after which Harry says: “I wish I knew what to do”.
The Duchess then gets up and hugs her husband tightly to comfort him, adding: “I know. Let’s take a breather. Get some air and then decide”.
The clip was shared on the social media platform TikTok by a user named thetvandmoviequeen on March 7, almost three months after the original programme was first released by entertainment giant Netflix, and has gone viral.
It has since been viewed 1.6 million times, has received some 46,000 likes and 1,220 comments – with the opinion of viewers split between those expressing their support for Meghan and Harry and praising them for their open display of love and those criticising them for sharing an intimate moment with millions of people.
Ms Clark noted Meghan and Harry’s publicly displaying their affection for one another during difficult times has caught the eye of the public in the past multiple times, including during the period of national mourning in September.
And, she added, the pair may be tempted to show in some way, such as by holding hands, their support and affection for one another in May too if they decide to attend the historic event but find a cold environment welcoming them.

The opinion expressed by Ms Clark, who stressed that, as an American, the concept of a coronation normally pertains more to the world of fiction than reality, comes after a survey carried out by Censuswide on 2,014 UK people between February 10 and 13.
The poll claimed 21 percent of the respondent felt the presence of Harry and Meghan would dampen their enthusiasm for watching the May 6 event.
One in eight of those polled, 12 percent, said the Sussexes’ presence at the abbey would make them switch off the broadcasting.
In comparison, 29 percent of people polled by the researchers across the UK said they’d be more inclined to follow the Coronation if the Duke and Duchess were in attendance.
Younger generations, the survey also suggested, were more likely to be happy to see Harry and Meghan at the Coronation than those over-55s.
While Meghan and Harry still have a few days before they have to communicate their decision on their attendance at the historic event to officials organising the event, Buckingham Palace is reportedly factoring the pair into all the planning.
A source previously told the Daily Mail: “No one knows for certain whether this means they have definitely accepted – it could, of course, be just in case they do – but it’s clearly not a ‘no’.
“The staff are certainly working on the expectation they are coming. These kinds of arrangements have to be made well in advance.”
