Harry and Meghan snubbed as key royals feature on Beano cover but Sussexes missed off

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been snubbed by the legendary comic publication Beano as they were not included on their star-studded cover to celebrate 85 years of the magazine.

Cartoons of many famous faces, including Stormzy, Harry Styles, Dua Lipa and Kate Bush feature on the front cover, which goes on sale today, July 26.

Other prominent royals can also be seen in cartoon form, as King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William and Princess Kate were chosen to feature rather than Harry and Meghan.

As an iconic British publication it may be that the Sussexes pursuit of a new life in the United States has distanced them from culture in the UK.

The collectible edition was co-created by thousands of children across the country, with 3,000 7-14-year-olds being asked which celebrities should be included and which ones should make the front cover.

The children crowned footballer Marcus Rashford as their most inspirational celebrity, both for his sporting skills and his fight to tackle social inequality, such as campaigning for free school meals for those less well off.

When asked which celebs they would most like to have at their birthday party the children surveyed plumped for Ant & Dec, however King Charles and Queen Camilla came in at seventh on the list.

The Prince and Princess of Wales in fact came in lower than the King and Queen on every single question, as they finished in 12th place on the dream birthday party guest list.

On the list of most inspiring celebrities Charles and Camilla once again came in seventh place, while William and Kate were somewhat lower down in 16th place.

Other celebs considered more inspiring that Kate and William were YouTuber and rapper KSI, Adele and England Lioness Jill Scott.

The King and Queen were also eighth on the list of famous people that the children asked would most want to be their best friend, while the Prince and Princess of Wales were in at number 14 on the list.

Yet William and Kate have still been praised for their parenting skills, with a body language expert lauding the Princess for instilling “confidence” in their daughter Princess Charlotte.

Judi James explained to OK! Magazine: “She’s reaping the benefit of Kate and William’s determination to give them all as normal, rounded and secure a childhood as possible – emulating Kate’s early years.

“Some of Kate’s natural confidence stems from that happy childhood and, perhaps, the broad experience of life she gained during her very early years when she lived in Jordan.”
