Harry and Meghan fear they have been hit by 'bad luck' over failed deals

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle fear they have been hit with “bad luck” over a series of failed deals. The couple recently had their lucrative Spotify deal axed after just one series of Meghan’s podcast, Archetypes.

In a joint statement with the streaming giant, the couple’s company Archewell Audio said they had “mutually agreed to part ways”. But this is just the latest blow in a series of failings as they try to make it in Hollywood.

After stepping down as senior royals in 2020, Meghan and Harry signed deals with both Spotify and Netflix, but both faced some bad luck.

Daily Mail columnist Alison Boshoff said the couples “attempts to launch themselves as global do-gooders” were “severely impacted by the pandemic”.

Since the announcement of their split from Spotify, inside details of their ideas and pitches have come to light.

Meghan reportedly wanted to interview popstar Taylor Swift on her podcast, but the singer turned down the offer in another “huge blow” for the royal.

Prince Harry is also reported to have had some “questionable” podcast suggestions as he wanted to interview world leaders, including Russian president Vladimir Putin and former US president Donald Trump on their childhood.

The pitch was said to have “struck” people as “questionable at best” as most of the men have rarely given interviews or spoken on their upbringing.

Over at Netflix, the couple had already had some failures as Meghan’s first show ‘Pearl’ was dropped while it was in the development stage.

Since signing the deal the Duke and Duchess’ only release was their docuseries which was released last year.

One of their most controversial moves was the tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey just a year after they moved to the US.

But Ms Boshoff said the couple reportedly felt the interview was “overshadowed by the failing health of the Prince Philip, who died soon afterwards.”

A similar story unfolded with Meghan’s podcast last September as it had to be put on hold following the death of Queen Elizabeth.

Despite the run of bad luck, Netflix has condirmed their “exciting journey” with the Sussexes “isn’t ending anytime soon”.
