Harry and Meghan attempts to 'be royals in US' sparking major confusion over their brand

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have their sights set on becoming self-styled royals in the United States, it has been claimed. The royal couple, who stepped down from senior duties in 2020, departed to become “financially independent” from the family. But Brittany from the Royal News Network has urged King Charles to step in and remind them of their “brand”.

On her YouTube channel, she claimed: “They’re trying to be royal in the US and from a brand perspective, the Royal Family need to be like, ‘We are royal and you are not royals’ because the brands are too confusing.

“Harry and Meghan have refused to actually do their own thing like they pretty much promised they would that they want to make their own way and own money.

“But they’re still pulling things from the monarchy to push yourselves ahead.

“They’re still using the time they had in the monarchy to try and get the rest of the world to see things in their perspective.”

It comes as Harry has made a surprise return to the UK for the first time since the late Queen’s funeral – but is not expected to meet with the King or the Prince of Wales.

His trip – for a High Court hearing in London in his claim against Daily Mail publisher Associated Newspapers over allegations of unlawful information-gathering – will be seen as demonstrating the strength of his determination over the legal action.

Just weeks ago, Harry laid bare his troubled relationship with his father the King and brother the Prince of Wales in his controversial autobiography Spare.

The King was due to be away on Monday on the first official state visit of his reign, but the trip to France was cancelled due to rioting over pension reforms, meaning Charles is now in the UK at the same time as Harry for the first time in six months.

The duke is also taking legal action against the Home Office over security arrangements when he is in the UK, raising questions about his own security provisions during this visit.

It has not been confirmed yet whether Harry and Meghan will be at the King’s coronation in less than six weeks’ time.

Palace staff have reportedly been told to factor the Sussexes into the arrangements.

The couple, who have begun using titles for their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, have not said if they will attend the May 6 ceremony, which falls on Archie’s fourth birthday.
