'Go back to Australia!' Woman living in US slammed for complaining about US flag

An Australian woman living in the US who complained about the number of American flags on display was told to go back to her own country by a politician.

In a video posted to TikTok that has since been deleted, Mia Chloe questioned why Americans wave flags as a mark of patriotism.

“I’m just going to say it… there are too many American flags,” she said. “They’re on houses. They’re on cars… Saw them on couch cushions.”

She added: “You’re the only country I know that does this. The only time I’ve seen an Australian flag is on the Sydney Harbour Bridge…I could not tell what it looks like.”

“I know it’s like blue, and it’s got some stars on it. I think I could draw the American flag from memory. I think I can make a bloody sculpture out of it. That’s how many bloody times I’ve seen it. It’s enough. Let’s stay humble.”

The TikTok video caught the attention of Texas Governor Greg Abbott, who responded with his own message.

“Go back to Australia,” he tweeted, adding US flags emojis.

The video was reposted on Twitter by right Liberals and amassed plenty of comments from patriotic Americans.

“Going to put out another flag,” one American wrote.

“Merica baby!” added another.

“As a person born in Houston, I respect this,” another said.

“It’s not just America’s love for the USA – it’s a culture of broad patriotism,” another wrote.

One person said they understood Mia Chloe’s confusion as displays of patriotism aren’t as common in Australia.

“People are wearing the college teams or the high school mascot shirts. Being proud of your town, your organisations, your church, your clubs – doesn’t exist in Australia,” they tweeted.
