Gerwyn Price conqueror Brendan Dolan rubs salt in the wounds after stunning Ally Pally win

Brendan Dolan has admitted that Gerwyn Price should have won ‘a few more’ sets than the two he managed in their thrilling World Darts Championship match-up at Alexandra Palace. Dolan produced a shock 4-2 win to send Price – one of the tournament favourites – packing on a night which saw him miss numerous opportunities to take control.

“I’m buzzing at the minute, over the moon,” Dolan told Sky Sports. “I was thinking we might go to a last set to reminisce about what happened years ago, but thank god it didn’t.

“That last set I got myself in a good place, Gezzy kept coming back and some of the finishes he hit in the end were class. I was trying to tell myself positive things, ‘so what if he wins it’. To be fair, I probably won a few sets early on that Gezzy should have got. I hit a 90 finish, an 84 finish and he was sitting pretty in those legs.”
