Geri Horner 'broken' by Christian Horner 'ordeal' as husband faces new allegations

Geri Horner has reportedly been left ‘broken’ by the ordeal surrounding Christian Horner, who is being probed by Red Bull following a complaint by a female employee. The 50-year-old has been placed under investigation by the team’s parent company in Austria after being accused of inappropriate behaviour, which he fully denies.

A new allegation has since been reported by a Dutch newspaper, which has threatened to deepen the crisis at Red Bull just weeks before the start of the new season. The situation has left Horner’s wife Geri feeling ‘broken’, according to The Sun, with the former Spice Girl receiving emotional support from her bandmates and close friends.

A source was quoted as saying: “They are quietly supporting her behind the scenes and checking in to make sure she is OK. Geri has been left broken by the ordeal, but is grateful for the kindness being shown to her by friends.”

Geri and Christian Horner have been married for nine years, having tied the knot in a lavish ceremony back in 2015. She is regularly spotted attending Grand Prix weekends in support of her husband, who is one of the most successful team principals in F1 history.

The Red Bull boss has consistently denied the allegations facing him and has vowed to fight the case in a bid to clear his name. He was recently grilled by a top lawyer for around eight hours at an undisclosed location in London and is reportedly expected to face subsequent rounds of questioning.

Red Bull are thought to be accelerating the investigation process so that a conclusion can be reached by the end of next week. According to The Times, there is a desire within the team to deal with the matter as quickly as possible, while Horner is said to have instructed lawyers to assist him in contesting the new allegation.

Horner was in attendance at Red Bull’s season launch event on Thursday, where he was quizzed on the investigation and what it could mean for his future in the F1 paddock.

“The support from within the business, of our partners, within the industry, has been overwhelming,” he told media including Express Sport.

“Obviously, there’s a process that’s ongoing at the moment. Some allegations have been made which I fully deny and I’m complying with that process and will continue to do so until its conclusion. I think it’s been very clear and the position of Red Bull has been that it’s business as normal.

“Of course, the allegations are a process that Red Bull are running through and have confirmed that process externally, but obviously there’s a job to do and I deny fully the accusations that have been made, and my role obviously continues.”
