Prince William and the Princess of Wales’s three children are well into their summer holiday, having broken up from school on July 8th.
Over the six-week break, the couple is due to spend a great deal of time as a family with William and Kate “blocking off” much of the holiday to spend time with their children as it’s their “priority”, according to the Mirror.
It is likely that they will be spending some time at their Norfolk residence, Anmer Hall, on the Sandringham Estate.
Royal expert Katie Nicholl explained that they typically head there every year and kick back, enjoying life’s simple pleasures.
The New Royals author told OK! Magazine: “I expect that we’ll see them spending time at Norfolk because that’s what they do every year…”
She added: “The children can run freely in the huge wide open spaces and they can enjoy picnics with the various friends the Cambridge’s have down there.”
While there, the children spend time in the great outdoors where they are not afraid to get stuck in. Speaking on the Happy Mum, Happy Baby podcast in 2020, Kate described how her favourite time with the family is when they are “outside in the countryside and we’re all filthy and dirty”.
The Princess added that George and Charlotte are encouraged to spend time outdoors and little Louis “loves smelling flowers” and “being outside”.
Kate is also showing her appreciation for the great outdoors, following Queen Camilla’s footsteps having taken up beekeeping on the Sandringham Estate.
The property is also thought to have a swimming pool and tennis court, which the family will no doubt enjoy together.
According to documents on the King’s Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council website, the Prince and Princess applied for planning permission to demolish the existing tennis court and create a new one with artificial grass.
The Wales family are big tennis fans, all except Louis attended William earlier this month, and Kate admitted that when she and William go head-to-head, the children act as ball girls and boys for them.
When the Wales family head to the Georgian Country House, they enjoy time away from the pomp and circumstance of their daily lives.
A source told People in 2020 that was a “normal, busy family home with kids running around and knocking things over”, devoid of “airs and graces.”
The area is very quiet and William and Kate have often been spotted out in the local area, shopping, visiting pubs, and taking their children to enjoy activities such as pottery painting, according to the Week.
The ten-bedroom property has long held a place in William’s heart. He visited the property, formerly owned by a former friend of King Charles, Hugh Van Cutsem Snr, as a child along with Prince Harry.
The late Queen Elizabeth gave them the property following their marriage in 2011 and during lockdown, William and his family of five lived there.
During the pandemic, the couple would homeschool the children as well as conduct royal engagements via video calls, thus giving the public glimpses into their life there.
While little is known about the property, it reportedly has Kate’s “personal style” throughout, making it “warm and inviting”.
