Gary Neville left perplexed by Arsenal star not doing his job against Tottenham

Gary Neville was left baffled by Arsenal star Eddie Nketiah after he failed to capitalise on a golden opportunity in the North London Derby. The striker should have been more alert to finish a corner routine which would have put his side 3-2 ahead against Tottenham.

Nketiah was positioned at the back post as a right-wing corner made its way towards goal. The 23-year-old should have darted closer towards the six-yard box to be in a position to convert the cross.

However, Nketiah was too slow and rather than be ready for a tap-in, he was positioned behind Pedro Porro. Neville could not believe that Nketiah lacked the anticipation to be in the correct position to score.

The former Manchester United defender said on Sky Sports’ commentary: “Nketiah has to be there, why is he not at the back post? It reminds me of Ian Wright, that was his old position, that’s such a big chance.

“How does he not smell, sniff, anticipate that one? He’s got to be there, that’s his job. Look at him, he has got to be flying at that back post and he’s late.”
