Four words missing after Meghan announcement points to new royal era

Meghan Markle’s big news about the Coronation was revealed on Wednesday – but four words have been noticeably missing in the “48-hour frenzy”.

Writing in her article for News.com.au, royal commentator Daniela Elser asked “what name we have not really heard?”.

The answer: Kate, Princess of Wales.

Alongside the King and Queen Consort, Elser referred to Kate as “the one that everyone will be watching” at the Coronation.

“With the Duchess of Sussex having removed herself from the narrative, that takes away the biggest possible distraction – and symbolic detractor – from the Princess [of Wales],” Elser writes.

She goes on to praise Kate, 41, as the “the most successful and powerful royal ‘hire’, possibly, in Buckingham Palace history”.

The absence of her name from the media shows Kate “is quietly sitting pretty”..

Despite Meghan’s no-show, Prince Harry is expected to join the royals at Westminster Abbey on May 6. The couple’s two children, Archie and Lilibet, will “remain in California” with Meghan.
