Nico Williams is one of Europe’s most promising young wingers, catching the eye with five goals and 10 assists in 24 appearances for Athletic Bilbao this season.
The 21-year-old prefers to operate down the left but is capable of thriving on the opposite side. And he is already an experienced international with 11 Spain caps.
According to the Mirror, Arsenal have scouted Williams, who won’t come cheap after signing a new contract last year, but face competition from Liverpool and Aston Villa.
The former could be eyeing a replacement for Mohamed Salah amid interest from Saudi Arabia, while the chance to work with fellow Spaniard Unai Emery at a prospering club like Villa will surely attract.
Pedro Neto
The report adds that Pedro Neto also features on Arteta’s shortlist, with the Gunners long-term admirers.
Neto, 23, has been linked with Arsenal in the past and is enjoying an impressive season at Wolves despite a frustrating hamstring injury in the first half.
He has scored three goals and provided 10 assists in 17 games this term, with 14 of those starts.
Arsenal will likely face rival interest for Neto, too, though, if he continues his current rate of contribution in the final third.
Michael Olise
Michael Olise is expected to depart Crystal Palace this summer, with Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United said to be interested in his signature.
The 22-year-old Frenchman has struggled with injuries this season, but he’s delivered six goals and three assists in eight starts.
Olise’s new release clause is reportedly higher than the £35million in his old contract, and he is said to favour a switch to United over a London stay with Chelsea.
The investment could be worth it, though, considering it would hand Arteta two of the Premier League’s top young right-wingers to pick from.
