Four of the most beautiful and scenic UK bus routes – and they're under £3

Forget planes, trains and automobiles – and instead consider a trip around the UK by bus.

Bus travel is greener and often a lot cheaper than alternative forms of travel and if you fancy seeing some of the best routes Britain has to offer now could be the time to give it a go.

Travel tech company FlixBus is celebrating its third anniversary in the UK by offering tickets for just £2 for coach services across England, Scotland and Wales.

With a £1 service fee, that means travellers planning journeys can book long-distance tickets from £3 on the FlixBus website or app.

The discounted fares can be purchased this week – until Saturday, April 21, until on journeys up until Saturday, May 12.

Andreas Schörling, managing director of FlixBus UK, said the network offers affordable tickets and “comfortable, modern vehicles”.

He added the company aims to “become the best-loved coach brand in the country” by offering “reliable services to as many passengers as possible”.

Here are four of the most beautiful journeys available on the £2 offer.

Enjoy the Scottish Highlands

Take time to soak up the stunning Scottish scenery aboard a four-hour bus from Glasgow to Inverness, stopping on the way in Perth.

Glasgow has been named one of the most exciting “comeback towns” in the UK after the “rebirth” of the city’s Clydeside area and Inverness boasts stunning landscapes in the heart of the Scottish Highlands.

Awesome York

This route whisks travellers from Manchester to the centre of gorgeous York – known to be one of the UK’s most beautiful cities.

The journey takes two hours and 40 minutes and also stops at Bradford and Leeds on the way.

From the breathtaking wonder of York Minster to the cute and quirky Shambles, a historic street featuring preserved medieval buildings, this city reallt has something for everyone.

Mad for Manchester

This route takes those on board from the UK’s second city of Birmingham to Manchester.

A two-hour and 45-minute journey is enough time to relax and plan out your visit to a city that is so cool and cultured.

UK’s answer to the Alps

Those hopping on at Glasgow will enjoy a three hour trip through pretty Perth and Pitlochry before arriving in the Cairngorms National Park, which boasts the UK’s “best ski resort.”

But beware! The area is pretty chilly even in April and May – the views, however, are well worth wrapping up.
