Four Malibu students at Pepperdine University mowed down by BMW driver who lost control

Four university students in Malibu were killed in a devastating crash after a BMW driver lost control at the wheel.

The four women, who were all seniors, were walking along Pacific Coast Highway about four miles (6.4 km) east of Pepperdine University in Malibu at around 8:30 pm on Tuesday night when 22-year-old Fraser Michael Bohm plowed into them.

The students were identified by school officials as Niamh Rolston, Peyton Stewart, Asha Weir and Deslyn Williams on Wednesday.

The four women were pronounced dead at the scene and two others were taken to a hospital but there was no word Wednesday on their conditions.

“Earlier today, we learned that four precious lives who brought joy and light to our campus were taken from us suddenly, tragically, and incomprehensibly,” Pepperdine’s president, Jim Gash wrote in a message to the university community.

Investigators believe he was driving a dark colored BMW westbound at a high rate of speed when he lost control.

He then sideswiped at least three parked vehicles, before crashing into a group of people walking in the area about 25 miles (40 km) west of downtown Los Angeles, they believe.

According to eyewitness accounts, Bohm got out of the vehicle unharmed and was tackled to the ground by several people.

Rolston, Steward, Weird and Williams were declared dead at the scene.

Two others were taken to local hospitals in unknown conditions, cops said.

“As we await further details from the investigation, we pray for our entire community,” the university said on X.

A campus prayer service for the victims was scheduled for Thursday morning.

Additional plans are in place to hold a memorial service for each student.

“In the days ahead, we will come together in meaningful ways to honor and celebrate the lives of the remarkable individuals lost to this unthinkable tragedy,” Gash said.

Bohm was arrested on charges of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence. A DUI investigation is still pending, LASD said.

However, he was later released from custody due to lack of evidence, Fox 11 reported.
