‘Fit and healthy’ student and model dies after going to A&E with suspected sinus infection

A ‘fit and healthy’ university student and model died after attending A&E with what he thought was a worsening sinus infection.

Harvey Edwards, aged 19, went to hospital on June 6 and it’s understood he had been taking medication for a sinus infection but his symptoms became worse.

He returned again to the emergency department on June 13 and was told after an MRI scan he had a bleed on the brain.

Doctors informed the teenager he would need to be put in an induced coma so that could alleviate pressure on his brain, but sadly Harvey suffered a stroke and his family made the heartbreaking decision to turn off his life support on June 28, the Liverpool Echo reports.

Tributes have poured in for the University of Liverpool student, described by his devastated friends as ‘just one of the most genuine people around’.

His cause of death has not yet been confirmed and it is not known whether he was suffering with a sinus infection or whether his symptoms were being caused by the bleed on his brain.

A friend of the family, Jordan Parker, said Harvey was a gentle and intelligent person with a ‘bright future ahead of him’. His death has devastated those who knew him best and Jordan said that life would never be the same without him.

Jordan told the ECHO: “He went back to the hospital and doctors said he would have to go into an induced coma.

“His speech was slurred but it was too late and the hospital then called his mum and told her she needed to come to Liverpool. It was such a shock for his family, he was a fit and healthy person.”

Harvey was studying biochemistry and was about to start his second year of the course. Aside from his studies Harvey was also a model and had completed his first photo shoot before his death.

Jordan said: “He was such a people person and was never miserable and always kind to everyone he met. Harvey was just one of the most genuine people around. There was just something about him that everyone loved and people liked to be around him. I have never heard a bad word said about him.

“His mum is just drained and does not know what to do, it has hit them all [hard]. His family was so close to him, especially his nephews…”

Following Harvey’s sudden death a GoFundMe page has been launched and has already had a number of donations which his friend said “just goes to show how well-liked he was.”

On the GoFundMe page Harvey was described as an ‘intelligent, gentle, respectable young man with a bright future ahead of him’.

The page adds: “He was loved by all of his family and friends alongside any further people he came into contact with. Harvey had his cheeky charming ways and loveable endearing personality that made his presence known the moment he walked into a room.”
