Fisherman claims discovery of MH370 wing but was 'snubbed' by authorities

77-year-old Australian fisherman Kit Olver has come forward, asserting that he found a wing from the missing Malaysian Airlines flight MH370 almost six months after its mysterious disappearance on March 8, 2014.

Olver claims that the massive wing, believed to be from a commercial jet, was ensnared in his fishing net off the South Australian coast, approximately 55 kilometers west of Robe.

Despite Olver’s readiness to provide authorities with precise coordinates of the discovery, he alleges that his report was summarily dismissed.

Authorities purportedly expressed skepticism, suggesting that the find might be a hoax.

According to Olver, the wing was so substantial and weighty that it strained his trawler’s engine as they endeavored to tow it to the surface.

George Currie, part of the trawler crew present on the day of the discovery, corroborated Olver’s account, describing the wing as “incredibly heavy and awkward” and too large to be hoisted onto the deck. He emphasized that the piece was unmistakably from a commercial plane, ruling out military or smaller aircraft.

He said: “As soon as I saw it I knew what it was. It was obviously a wing, or a big part of it, from a commercial plane. It was white, and obviously not from a military jet or a little plane.”

Olver lamented: “I’ve questioned myself; I’ve looked for a way out of this. I wish to Christ I’d never seen the thing… but there it is. It was a jet’s wing.”

The baffling disappearance of MH370 has remained one of aviation’s greatest mysteries. The flight, en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, vanished without a trace on March 8, 2014, with 227 passengers and 12 crew members on board.

In the aftermath of Olver’s claims, questions arise about why authorities seemingly dismissed such a potentially significant lead.

This incident adds another layer to the already complex narrative surrounding MH370, raising concerns about the thoroughness of the investigation and potential oversights in the search for the truth.

In the years since the disappearance, debris confirmed or believed to be from MH370 has washed ashore along the coasts of Africa and on islands in the Indian Ocean.

The latest revelation by Kit Olver underscores the enduring enigma of the missing flight and the need for a comprehensive reevaluation of the investigation’s findings and potential leads.
