Firefighters rush to Tory MP Mike Freer's office after horror Christmas Eve blaze

Firefighters have rushed to the scene of a “suspected arson attack” at a Tory MP’s office this evening.

Emergency services rushed to the scene on Christmas Eve after reports of a blaze at Mike Freer’s constituency office in Ballards Lane in London. Police officers and firefighters were spotted at the HQ of the MP for Finchley and Golder’s Green in the north of the city.

One local resident told Express.co.uk that they were made aware of the fire at around 7pm, while pictures posted to social media showed fire crews and Met Police cars at the scene three hours later.

Taking to social media, local resident Barbara said: “Suspected Arson attack at Conservative HQ Ballards Lane. Mike Freer’s office.”

She later confirmed at around 10.30pm on December 24 that the road was still closed due to the ongoing incident.

It comes as tensions have escalated over the past few months in the community following the October 7 Hamas terrorist attack on Israel, which has resulted in pro-Israel and pro-Palestinian protests attracting hundreds of thousands of people to London,

MP Mike Freer, 63, is a member of Conservative Friends of Israel (CFI). Although he is not Jewish, The Jewish Chronicle in 2008 ranked him 99th in its list of 100 most powerful influences on the Jewish community.

Praising local firefighters, another eyewitness said: “It’s Christmas Eve but that doesnt stop @LondonFire from efficiently dealing with a fire at 212 Ballards Lane, the offices of Finchley Conservatives and Mike Freer MP. Nobody hurt, some damage.”

Express.co.uk has contacted the London Fire Brigade and Metropolitan Police for comment.
