Family finds drunk driver passed out in bedroom with mangled BMW in front garden

A Texas family got the shock of a lifetime after finding a drunk driver passed out in a secondary bedroom and his mangled BWM in their front yard, a deal female passenger inside.

Harris County Sheriff’s Office said Daniel Alexander Rodriguez-Olivares was arrested after allegedly breaking into the home and causing a deadly crash while drunk.

Rodriguez-Olivares was speeding down the road in his 2016 BMW when he collided with a culvert, causing the car to go airborne and break through two wooden barriers before landing in the Houston front yard, according to police.

Surveillance footage from Carlos Suarec’s home captured the moment the vehicle flipped three times in the air before crashing on the ground.

Rodriguez-Olivares was then alleged to have walked out of the vehicle to break into Suarec’s home, where he was found unconscious in one of the bedrooms.

The stunned homeowner said he didn’t initially realize a car had crashed in front of the house and only learned about it after the police arrived and found a dead woman inside the vehicle.

Speaking to Fox26, Suarec said: “I know someone tried to break into my window. I never knew the car was here.

“I go inside, and the police come, and they say stay there. Maybe five, or six police go in and try to find him in the house.”

The passenger was described as a young woman in her 20s but has not been formally identified. She was declared dead at the scene.

Sgt. B. Bondurant said Rodrigues-Olivares had hit a business property before hitting the culvert and crashing into the front yard.

He noted the incident was “very traumatic” for Suarec and his family as he reiterated people should not drive while intoxicated.

Bondurant said: “I imagine very scary at 3 o’clock in the morning you’re hearing what sounds like a horrific car crash and then breaking glass. It was probably very traumatic for them.

“There’s no reason at all to drive while intoxicated. It’s 2023 almost 2024, we have Uber, we have Lyft. Heck, call 911, and we’ll come get you.”

The drunk driver was taken to hospital in critical condition and has since been charged with intoxication manslaughter.
