F1 LIVE: Hamilton replacement has Mercedes trial as Steiner addresses Red Bull links

The drivers have arrived at the Chinese Grand Prix paddock for media day ahead of what promises to be an entertaining weekend of racing at the Shanghai International Circuit. The track has been absent from the calendar for over four years but returns with the first sprint race of 2024.

There are plenty of notable storylines in the paddock ahead of F1’s return to China, but none more so than at Mercedes, where the Silver Arrows are attempting to correct a dismal start to the campaign, all while figuring out their driver line-up for the 2025 season.

Toto Wolff has accepted defeat in his plan to lure Max Verstappen to Brackley next season, but the team principal still faces a difficult decision between Ferrari ace Carlos Sainz and teenage starlet Kimi Antonelli for the second seat.

Elsewhere, it will be business as usual at reigning champions Red Bull as they search for successive one-two finishes, while Ferrari will be hoping to put the pressure on following an accomplished display at the Japanese Grand Prix.
