Explore global Yuletide tales at Tatton Park Gardens this Christmas!

The now open ‘Yuletide’ at Tatton Park Gardens, in Cheshire, is a blend of a magical winter light trail and an outdoor Christmas festival running until the day before Christmas Eve.

Visitors to Tatton Park, once the home of the aristocratic Egerton family, can immerse themselves in winter stories as they walk the Glittering Trail through their stunning gardens.

Audiences are greeted by glowing installations, a rainbow bridge straight out of Viking stories about Asgard, illuminated puppets and interactive, costumed characters along the route.

There are thrilling tales of icy Greek gods, of mischievous gleaming goblins and of an arctic fox who conjures up the northern lights.

You will meet the sun and the moon as they try to escape the clutches of the witch goddess of the North, and the most cheerful of yuletide goats, the underground world of the Kallikantzaroi goblins, and chant along with Welsh legend Mari Lwyd as visitors meet over a shining snow-covered village.

Families can also watch live musicians, toast marshmallows and enjoy fire jugglers or taste festive delights from warming hot chocolate to mulled wine.

Yuletide is created by outdoor arts organisation Wild Rumpus, who have also run the popular ‘Lanterns’ winter festival at Cheshire Zoo.

Excited Rowan Cannon, director of Wild Rumpus, said: “We wanted to create something a little bit different for families to experience.

“There are lots of famous festive stories that we all know, but we wanted to share some lesser-known tales from around the world that are just as magical.

“We hope families will be sharing these stories with each other for years as part of their own festive traditions!”

*Forgotten festive stories and traditions from all over the world will come to life at a new event at Tatton Park Gardens this Christmas Friday 24th November – Sunday 23rd December 2023 Tatton Park Gardens.

Tickets are on sale now at www.yuletide.org.uk (£12 for children, £20 for adults and free for under 2s.)
