Expert claims King Charles makes people 'feel at ease' just like Queen Elizabeth

The late Queen Elizabeth would have celebrated her 97th birthday today, and a body language expert spoke to Express.co.uk to explain the similarities she has with the current monarch, King Charles. According to the expert, Darren Stanton, the two sovereigns share similar traits.

Speaking on behalf of Betfair Bingo, Darren said: “Charles was brought up very much under the umbrella of all the royal protocols.

“I think even now, even though he’s mellowed when it comes to his willingness and ability to connect and show himself in a much more humanistic way to the press and public, there’s still a number of things he holds dear and will be with him to the end of his life.

“We don’t tend to see Charles breaking any of the royal protocols that his mother, our late Queen, laid out and that will be true of some of the other royals too like Princess Anne – those that were brought up in the midst of her reign will adhere to this.

“In terms of body language, Charles has a lot of the same traits the Queen had, like strong eye contact and the ability to build rapport.

“It was said of the Queen that when you met her you felt like you were the only person present, almost like in a bubble – some people have said the same about King Charles, that when he’s talking to you he’s giving you his full attention.

“Therefore, he’s clearly inherited that communication ability from his mother.”

The expert claimed that Charles has the ability, like the late Queen, to make people feel at ease.

Darren explained: “Charles, like the Queen, takes his position very seriously. When he’s taking part in royal occasions, he’s deadly serious, whereas you see the younger royals like Prince William less entrenched in protocol.

“The way Charles has been brought up his whole life has been brought about to this moment, his destiny to be King.

“He’s had over 50 years’ worth of experience and you can see that seeping out in the way he conducts himself non-verbally.”

According to the expert, Charles and the late Queen share their skills when it comes to “communication”.

Darren suggested: “He has the ability, like the Queen, to match and mirror people unconsciously to make them feel at ease.

“Communication has never really been a problem for Charles, despite him being a very shy man.

“The Queen’s influence and the way that she did things is still very much a massive part of Charles’s life.

“Despite the stoicism and seriousness they both have become known to display, it’s fair to say Charles has also inherited the Queen’s sense of humour.

“It’s been said the Queen had a great sense of humour and loved to crack a joke, have a bit of fun.

“We’ve seen Charles in some situations displaying the same showing he’s not averse to being humorous, similarly to the Queen.”

According to the expert, King Charles shows a willingness to evolve the monarchy.

Darren opined: “In his differences to the Queen, Charles has the willingness to evolve and be more open – he appears to want to make the monarchy much more accessible, as we’ve seen with William and Kate Middleton.

“The Queen’s influence and the way that she did things is still very much a massive part of Charles’ life, he has one foot in tradition and ceremony and the other in the present where he’s trying to be a lot more accessible and open to the British public.”
