Ex-master at Prince William and Harry's school pleads not guilty to killing elderly mum

A former master at Prince William and Prince Harry’s childhood school has been accused of murdering his mother. Matthew Corry, 45, who worked at Eton College in Windsor, Berks, pleaded not guilty to killing his mother Beatrice Corry, 84. The teacher lived with his mother in her apartment at a converted grammar school at the time of her death. Police were called to the posh market town of Chipping Campden in the Cotswolds, Gloucestershire, at around 12.30am on January 6.

Beatrice was found with head injuries at the home. A hearing has taken place at Bristol Crown Court this morning where Corry submitted his not guilty plea to one charge of murder.

Prosecutors are waiting for further psychiatric reports before proceeding with the case.

Corry was remanded in custody following the incident, with a provisional trial date being set for July 3 at Bristol Crown Court.

Beatrice Corry was a retired teacher and volunteer at the Campden Home Nursing charity shop.

Paying tribute at the time of her death, CEO Helen Makaritis said: “Beatrice was an incredible lady, she had so much energy and would regularly have completed a five mile walk before her shift in the shop.

“Described as a ‘force of nature’ by the shop team, she was always positive and never afraid to voice her opinion, a very intelligent lady who was knowledgeable about so many things.

“Never without a scarf or a twinkle in her eye, she was loved by us all.”

Corry taught at Eton where the Prince of Wales and Duke of Sussex were taught until 2008 when he moved to a prep school in Oxford.

It is also thought that he taught at a boarding school in Cumbria and at GoDolphin and Latymer.
