'Evil' man found guilty of murdering schoolteacher Ashling Murphy by stabbing her in neck


A man described as ‘evil in the room’ has been found guilty of murdering a schoolteacher’ by stabbing her in the neck 11 times, before slicing it in a brutal 12th wound.

Jozef Puska killed schoolteacher Ashling Murphy in Tullasmore, Co Offaly in Ireland on the afternoon of January 12 last year.

Ms Murphy, 23, was exercising on a canal path when she was attacked and killed by Puska, 33, of Lynally Grove in Mucklagh, Tullamore.

He had pleaded not guilty to her murder, but a jury, made up of nine men and three women, reached their unanimous guilty verdict at the Central Criminal Court in Dublin after deliberating for more than two hours today (November 9).
