Everyone's distracted as police release e-fit of wanted 'Harry Kane lookalike'

An e-fit picture released by UK police has caused amusement in the UK after people realised it looked very similar to England captain Harry Kane.

Police are looking for a man suspected of robbing a woman in an alleyway in Richmond, South-West London in the evening of October 26.

When the Metropolitan Police released the e-fit, there were instantly a number of playful comments suggesting it was Kane because of his blonde hair, blue eyes and long features, although there is no genuine suggestion it was the Bayern Munich star who committed the crime – indeed, he is looking for a house in Munich instead.

The e-fit shows a man with blonde/ginger hair, green eyes, blonde hair and an orange hat, with a grey hoodie. The man has a goatee and moustache, but the rest of his beard is shaved. He also has a sharp jawline and nose – similar to Kane.

In the post, the Met Police wrote: “Robbery On 26th October 2023 between 8-8.30pm, a lone female was robbed in an alley off Twickenham Riverside. We are asking for anyone who could identify the person from this EFIT image. Please call us on 101 (ref 0711737/23) with any assistance.”

Twitter/X users pounced on the post with jokes. One said: “It does look like Harry Kane – although he has a great alibi.”

Another wrote: “Harry Kane been eliminated from your enquiries? ps. I hope the lone female in question is OK. I shall keep a lookout.

Harry Kane bagged the second goal in England’s boring 2-0 win over Malta on Friday night, although the England striker was booked for a supposed dive earlier on in the first half.

He is England and Tottenham’s all-time record goalscorer and forced a move to German heavyweights Bayern Munich in the summer in a bid to win his first ever club trophy.

Nevertheless, the team were knocked out of the German Cup to a third-tier side, and he lost the German version of the Community Shield, meaning there are just two trophies left to compete for this season.

Some Bayern fans fear he has brought a curse to the club – although his goalscoring exploits have already broken records this season.
