Everyone is saying the same thing as King Charles returns to public-facing royal duties

Royal fans have shared how “encouraging” it is to see King Charles return to royal duties alongside Queen Camilla for the first time since his cancer diagnosis.

The King, who has been named Cancer Research UK’s new patron, visited a specialist cancer centre in London in support of staff, patients, and on-going research. Visibly beaming on arrival, he waved at crowds and looked pleased to be returning to duties – with today’s visit having an extra level of significance for the King.

Social media user, @TopDastan wrote: “This is great news! It’s always encouraging to see someone overcoming a health challenge and returning to their responsibilities.

“King Charles must be a strong and resilient leader. Wishing him all the best in his continued recovery.”

The visit was intended to continue Charles’s desire to raise awareness of the importance of early cancer diagnosis. It follows the monarch’s decision to make public his own health issues earlier this year, in the hope it will encourage others to check themselves and get seen to by medics quickly.

Another X user was released to see the King back: “So good to see #KingCharles raising awareness about the importance of early cancer diagnosis.”

Whereas @sachah46 exclaimed: “How excellent that he’s their new Patron” and user @Kat_Vrla said: “It’s good to see he is looking so well!”

Another royal fan, pleased to see King Charles conducting royal visits again, wrote: “King Charles on his first front-facing event! He looks so healthy and happy.”

The head of state has been receiving treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer since early February and on Friday it was announced he would be returning to public-facing duties. The development indicated the positive progress Charles is making after almost three months of cancer care as an outpatient.

During the visit, the 75-year-old monarch looked delighted to be returning to duties and conducted meaningful chats as he visited the cancer centre and met with patients.

The King hopes his visit will raise awareness of the importance of early diagnosis and will highlight some of the innovative research, supported by Cancer Research UK, which is taking place at the hospital.

Elsewhere on their visit, the King and Queen Camilla, who has been his support throughout his diagnosis, met clinicians and heard more about their use of innovative technology at UCLH; including CT scanners which are being used to help with the early detection of cancer.

For decades, Charles has taken a specific interest in the treatment of cancer and he now intends to highlight the battle to find a cure for what he once called this “beastly disease”.
