Everyone is saying the same thing about Princess Anne's latest fashion choice

Princess Anne captured the hearts of royal fans all over Instagram with her outfit choice for the Grand Day Choral Evensong Service, with many remembering its connection to the late Queen Elizabeth.

For the service at Temple Church in London on Thursday November 2, Anne wore the Admiral’s Boat Coat, first seen on her mother in 1968 and worn again by Her Late Majesty as an older woman in 2007.

Fans in the comments section gushed over the cloak and its nostalgia, with some mixed emotions being expressed as they remembered the late monarch.

One said: “Oh this makes me so happy and so sad all at the same time”, followed by two crying face emojis and three red hearts.

Another added: “Lovely gesture. Wearing the clothes of someone who’s gone is a beautiful way to feel them close and in this case, to honour her legacy, too. And this cloak, as a piece of clothing, is powerful, so regal and smart.”

Personal stylist Melissa Lund told Express.co.uk of the Princess Royal’s fashion sense: “I think Princess Anne is fabulous because I don’t think she gives two hoots about what anyone thinks of her lifestyle or fashion choices!

“I’d really like to see her mixing vintage pieces with modern items. This old-new mix ensures the wearer stays relevant, although I’m sure that Princess Anne is not going to worry about that!

“Princess Anne is known to recycle her clothes but unlike the Princess of Wales, she doesn’t seem to alter them at all. The clothes get retired for a while – several decades sometimes – and they are then reworn, exactly as they were.”

However, Ms Lund did have some tips as to how Anne could update her look, having been in the public eye all of her life.

She said she would suggest a “change of hairstyle”, as the Princess has rocked the same voluminous, swept-back look for many years, but admitted that Anne does not seem to care about being controversial.

Despite being 73-years-old the Princess Royal is often praised as one of the most hard-working royals in terms of the number of engagements, in fact last year she carried out the most of everyone in the Firm.
